General
About working with us
Is JPS Finwise a bank or a lender?
No. JPS Finwise is a loan consultancy. We help you understand your options, prepare your file and deal with the lender through the process. The loan itself is given by a bank or financial institution, and the approval, interest rate, eligibility and final terms are decided by them based on their policy and your profile.
What does it cost to talk to you?
An initial conversation about what you need and what your options might be costs you nothing. Call or message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Can you tell me the interest rate I will get?
Not in advance, and you should be careful of anyone who does. The rate depends on the lender, your income and credit profile, the loan amount and tenure, and what is being offered at the time. What we can do is help you understand what affects it and what to compare.
How long does the process usually take?
It depends on the loan type and how quickly the documents come together. A car loan is generally faster than a home loan, and a loan against property takes longer still because the property has to be valued and legally verified. We will give you a realistic idea once we know your situation.
What documents should I keep ready?
Broadly, identity and address proof, income proof such as salary slips or business accounts, recent bank statements, and the property or vehicle papers where relevant. The exact list depends on the lender and your profile, and we will tell you precisely what is needed for your case.
Do I have to come to your office?
You are very welcome to. We are at Booth No. 11, Inner Market, Sector 39-B, Chandigarh. A lot can also be handled over the phone and on WhatsApp if that is easier for you.
Which areas do you cover?
We work with people across Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and the wider Tricity area. If you are nearby and not sure whether we can help, just ask.
Can you help if my loan was rejected before?
Sometimes. It depends on why it was declined. If you can tell us what happened, we will give you an honest view on whether it is worth trying again and what might need to change first. We will not promise an approval, because that is not ours to promise.
Home Loan
Home Loan questions
How much can I borrow for a home?
It depends on your income, your existing EMIs, your credit history, your age and the value of the property. Lenders fund a portion of the property value, not all of it, so you will need to arrange the rest yourself along with registration and stamp duty. We can help you work out a realistic figure before you start looking seriously.
Can I apply before I have chosen a property?
Yes. Many lenders will assess your income and give you an in-principle view of what you could borrow before you finalise a property. It is a sensible order to do things in, because you then know your budget while you are looking.
Should I choose a fixed or floating interest rate?
A floating rate moves with the market, so your EMI or tenure can change. A fixed rate stays the same for an agreed period. Which suits you depends on how much certainty you want and how long you expect to keep the loan. We will talk you through both rather than pushing one.
Can I repay my home loan early?
Usually yes, and part-prepayment can reduce your total interest considerably. The terms vary by lender and by whether the loan is at a fixed or floating rate, so check this before you sign rather than after.
Car Loan
Car Loan questions
Can I get a loan for a used car?
Generally yes, though the age and condition of the car matter. Lenders limit how old a vehicle can be and will lend against its assessed value rather than the asking price. Terms for used cars are usually less favourable than for new ones.
How much down payment will I need?
Lenders finance a portion of the vehicle cost, so you should expect to put down the rest. The exact proportion varies by lender, by the car, and by your profile. A larger down payment usually improves the terms you are offered.
Is the showroom finance the best option?
It is convenient, and sometimes it is genuinely competitive. But it is worth knowing what else is available before you commit, particularly on the rate type and the foreclosure terms. That comparison is a large part of what we help with.
Loan Against Property
Loan Against Property questions
How much can I raise against my property?
Lenders advance a portion of the assessed market value, never the whole of it, and the exact proportion depends on the lender, the property type and your income. A commercial property is usually treated differently from a residential one.
Can I still use the property?
Yes. You continue to live in it or use it as normal. The lender holds the property as security, which means the papers are held and a charge is registered, but your day-to-day use does not change.
What happens if I cannot repay?
The property is the security, so the lender has the right to act against it to recover the outstanding amount. This is the most important thing to weigh before taking this kind of loan. Borrow only what you are confident you can repay, and talk to your lender early if your circumstances change.
Balance Transfer
Balance Transfer questions
Is a balance transfer always worth it?
No. You have to weigh the total cost of switching — processing fees, legal and valuation charges, and any foreclosure charge — against what you actually save. It tends to be worth it when a meaningful number of years remain and the rate difference is real. We will help you work out the actual numbers for your loan.
Will a transfer affect my credit score?
A new application involves a fresh credit check, which can have a small short-term effect. Closing the old loan properly and repaying the new one on time is what matters over time.
Can I increase my loan amount while transferring?
Often yes. Many lenders allow a top-up at the time of transfer, subject to your eligibility and the value of the property. It is worth asking about at the start rather than afterwards.
Top-Up Loan
Top-Up Loan questions
How soon after taking a loan can I get a top-up?
Most lenders require you to have repaid for a minimum period with a clean record before they will consider a top-up. The exact period varies, so it is worth asking your lender directly.
Is a top-up cheaper than a personal loan?
Usually, because it is secured against a property the lender already holds. That is the main reason people choose it. It is still worth comparing the total cost over the full tenure rather than just the rate, since a longer tenure can cost more overall.
Can I use a top-up for anything I like?
Not quite. Lenders restrict the permitted end use and may ask you to state the purpose. Confirm this before you apply so there are no surprises during processing.
Shall we talk it through?
Tell us what you need and we will explain your options in plain language. There is no charge for that conversation.
